The Philadelphia Eagles suffered some key losses on their coaching staff with the departure of offensive coordinator Frank Reich and quarterback coach John DeFilippo shortly after the franchise won its first Super Bowl over the New England Patriots. Regardless of their current situation, head coach Doug Pederson does not seem to be phased by the new changes.
Most teams have already assembled their entirely new coaching staffs at this point in the offseason. However, Pederson said he is in no hurry to find an offensive coordinator during an appearance on SiriusXM Radio's Basketball and Beyond with Coach K:
“I’m thinking through a lot of things and processing a lot of things right now, a lot of names,” Pederson said. “I haven’t ruled out not having an offensive coordinator. But you know, as a head coach and some of the responsibilities that I have to do during the week and some of the other obligations, I’ve got to look at that too.
“Because that’s where your offensive coordinator can really step in so, like I said, I’m processing a bunch of things. I’m not going to rush into it, I’m going to make sure it’s the right person, the right fit for what we’re doing.
“I think that’s important too, that that person fits the culture and his way of thinking has to coincide with the way we’re thinking and … calling the plays and go from there.”

Pederson's comments should certainly come as no surprise as he has already committed to calling plays again for the 2018 season. Needless to say, he has more than enough experience with doing so as a former player and now Super Bowl-winning coach who pushed all the right buttons in their upset win over the Patriots. The Eagles will not need to undergo any major changes to their offensive scheme moving forward.
Bringing in another offensive coordinator would certainly take any unwarranted pressure off Pederson's plate. It is rumored that running backs coach Duce Staley and wide receivers coach Mike Groh may take on larger roles in helping develop the offensive game plan. A promotion to offensive coordinator does not seem to be likely for either of them, but they could split those duties with the running and passing games, respectively.
