Eagles head coach Doug Pederson put to rest any idea of a possible quarterback controversy in Philadelphia.

Pederson scolded Angelo Cataldi of SportsRadio 94WIP Monday morning after Cataldi asked what it would take to”look at the possibility of trying a different quarterback.” Pederson said the team stands behind Wentz, adding there is plenty of season remaining:

No. No, you don’t go there. That’s a knee jerk reaction,” Pederson said, via Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “That’s a reaction to things that sometimes are … the aura that’s out there, right? That’s not what we believe internally. And we’re going to continue to get better. Carson’s our quarterback. We’re going to get it fixed, he’s going to get it fixed. We got a long … listen, we’re only a half game out of first place for goodness sakes. The whole division isn’t playing very good football. We’re not that far off.”

Wentz has certainly struggled through the first three games.

The former No. 2 overall pick has completed under 60 percent of his passes, and he also leads the league with six interceptions. At the same time, Wentz is playing behind a fragile offensive line, and the receiving corps is utterly depleted.

Alshon Jeffrey has yet to make his season debut. DeSean Jackson and Dallas Goedert went out with injuries on Sunday, and rookie Jalen Reagor will be out for an extended period.

Additionally, to Pederson's point, the rest of the NFC East is struggling. None of the four teams have a winning record, meaning the Eagles are very much in the division race.

Philadelphia might have taken Jalen Hurts as an insurance policy this past April, but Pederson is standing by Wentz as his quarterback.
