The Philadelphia Eagles surprised a lot of people during the 2020 NFL Draft when they selected quarterback Jalen Hurts in the second round.

While the quarterback has tons of potential, they already have a franchise star at the position. Not only that, but they have one that is still just 27 and signed a massive longterm deal to be with the team.

Of course, that quarterback is Carson Wentz.

With that in mind, it's hard to imagine Hurts getting much playing time barring an injury from the starter.

That is not going to start Hurts from his mission though. According to Reuben Frank of NBCSports.com, Hurts is not worried about his role – he's focused on becoming the best quarterback he can become with the Eagles:

“I mean, I don’t want to get into the semantics of those things,” Hurts said, via Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “I’m just worried about improving. I’ve said it three times and I don’t want to come off or come across any way, I’m just trying to improve every day. I’m trying to be the best quarterback I can be every day for this team.”

It's got to be frustrating for Hurts to hear the same questions so often. What's it like getting drafted to a team with a franchise QB? What do you think your role will be in the Eagles' offense?

Hurts has to hear those questions multiple times a day at this point. But he's not worried about that because it's not really in his control at the moment. What he can control is how much he improves.

And that's what Hurts wants to focus on, improving and getting better. After all, he could be one injury away from being the starter. And Wentz has had two serious injuries already in his career, so it's not out of the question to wonder if he will stay healthy in 2020 and beyond.

It also helps Hurts that he is not in this alone due to already building a relationship with Wentz. It's one that could help mold Hurts into the superstar quarterback he could become.

The second-round draft pick has a hill to climb before becoming a starter in the NFL. It starts with improving his game, and that's what he's working to do right now.
