Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders enjoyed quite the breakout performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 3. Regardless, he is still focused on improving his shortcomings.

Sanders' performance certainly came with its fair share of ups and downs. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, he feels he must kick his play up a notch:

“I’ve got to play better. I put us in some tough situations,” Sanders said, via Reuben Frank.

Sanders also vowed to make sure he does a better job of taking care of the ball.

“It’s a long season, a long game,” Sanders said. “I got back in and tried to make the most of my opportunities. Put it behind me. I’m not perfect, but I’m definitely going to work my ass off this week to get better.”

The Eagles invested a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to take Sanders. It has not taken him very long to etch out an integral role for himself in their injury-riddled offense. Although he showed plenty of promise against the Lions, he also made some costly mistakes that exposed his status as a rookie.

Sanders finished with 126 total yards on 15 touches. Unfortunately, he also made a couple of costly mistakes by fumbling the ball twice. His struggles were indicative of Philadelphia's struggles to avoid making mistakes. They shot themselves in the foot, and it ultimately resulted in a 27-24 loss.

Fortunately, Sanders did show some signs of maturity by finding a way to make up for his mistakes with multiple big plays in the second half. While it was not enough to get the win this time around, it is still encouraging to see him keep his confidence after enduring some struggles early on.
