The Philadelphia Eagles lost big to the New Orleans Saints 48-7 in Week 11 and while that might have caused most teams to fold, according to Nick Foles it actually brought the team closer.

“That game has helped us become the team we are today,” Foles told reporters Wednesday, via the Eagles' official website. “Going through that, that's not easy as a team to lose like that. But, it's like I said, there's never pointing fingers. It actually brought us closer. It can separate a team or it can bring a team closer, and it brought us closer.”

After that loss, the team turned it around and during the stretch run the Philadelphia Eagles went 6-1 including wins over the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans. Even with the strong finish, they needed the Vikings to lose in Week 17 to make the playoffs.

The Eagles are going to have a test like they haven't had since they played the Saints in Week 11 but Foles doesn't think that the blowout loss is going to provide them any extra motivation. Foles knows just being in the playoffs and trying to win another Super Bowl is motivation enough.

“At this point of year, you don't really need any more fuel,” Foles told reporters. “We're out here ready to roll, we're working hard. We're definitely excited to compete against the Saints. I mean, they're one of the best teams in the NFL. They're a well-rounded team. They play well in all three phases of football. They do a great job, they're well-coached, they have great players. So, it's going to be a great challenge for us.”

The Saints and Eagles face off on Sunday at 4:40 PM ET with a trip to the NFC Championship game on the line.
