The Philadelphia Eagles have their second offseason running back acquisition with the team drafting Penn State running back Miles Sanders with their 53rd pick.

The team also traded for Jordan Howard this offseason from the Chicago Bears, and both of these guys should give the team two solid options at a position they have struggled to find consistency at.

Coming out of high school the expectations for Sanders were sky high. He had a nice career with the Nittany Lions but never really took off till this last season when he finished 1,274 yards and nine touchdowns on 220 carries. NFL Analyst Lance Zierlein points out that he has all the skills to be a solid back in the NFL, but it might be a few years until he is an every-down back.

Well-built glider with the instincts, footwork and agility to shake tacklers but the frame and pad level to finish with some authority. He can clearly create yardage for himself, but he has average acceleration and might need to expedite his downhill process as a pro. Sanders is more skilled than explosive, but he has the size and talent to develop into a future starter with every-down potential.

It will be interesting to see how the Giants use him this upcoming season, but I wouldn't expect them to throw him into the fire right away. Start him off slow, and as the season goes on start to give him more carries. The hope is that in the near future Howard and Sanders can be a dynamic one-two punch.
