One of the many blockbuster clashes between some of the top teams in the league on Sunday pits the Philadelphia Eagles against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a cross-conference battle. While the two teams don't play against each other very often, the in-state aspect of this matchup always results in a testy matchup.
It didn't take long for tensions to rise and the chippiness to have a big impact on the game on Sunday. With the Steelers trailing 3-0 in the first quarter, the two teams got into it after Steelers tight end Darnell Washington blocked Eagles cornerback Darius Slay into the wall.

Controversially, the officials called two personal fouls on the Steelers and none on the Eagles. As a result, Pittsburgh was forced into a second-and-18 instead of second-and-3 from inside the five yard line. They settled for a field goal, so there's a case to be made that the fight and the call cost the Steelers four points.
Those points could be a big deal for the Steelers, who will have to manufacture some points in some unorthodox ways in this game. Star wide receiver George Pickens is out of this one due to an injury, so getting big plays and generating explosive gains will be hard to do. The Steelers were set up with great field position after a fumble on a punt by Eagles defensive back Cooper DeJean before the penalty set them back.
After the Eagles raced out to a 17-3 lead against the Steelers, Russell Wilson and the Pittsburgh offense fought back with a touchdown of their own to cut the lead to seven. After a stop, the Steelers put together another short drive to get a field goal just before halftime, making the score 17-13. The defense has started to get some stops and now the Steelers finally have some momentum on offense, making this a competitive game toward the end of the first half.
A win in this one would be a massive boost for the Steelers before next Saturday's AFC North tilt against the Baltimore Ravens that could decide who wins the division at the end of the season.
