Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is looking to write the latest chapter in is rivalry against the Chicago Bears. However, a pesky wrist injury may hold him out of competition.
Rodgers is officially questionable entering Sunday's matchup, via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Head coach Mike Tomlin is keeping any further information close to the vest.
“We'll see where the weekend leads us,” Tomlin said.
The Steelers quarterback suffered a fracture in his wrist during the Week 11 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, he isn't going to require surgery. Rodgers is now pushing to play against the Bears, via Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.
Pittsburgh will still need to clear Rodgers to play, no matter how much he wants to play. At this stage of his career, the Steelers may choose to be more cautious. The Bears and NFL world at large will need to wait before finding out Rodgers' final status.
In his debut with Pittsburgh, the quarterback has completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 1,969 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Perhaps most importantly to the Steelers, he has led the team to a 6-4 record. His play will be crucial for Pittsburgh to end their season atop the AFC North.
Rodgers' push to play could be in part due his rivalry with the Bears. Spending most of his career with the Green Bay Packers, he has plenty of legendary moments at Soldier Field. He is 25-5 against the Bears in his career. While he is wearing a different jersey, he still has a chance to add to his legacy.
Of course, all depending on how his wrist injury situation is handled on Sunday.
