Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward suffered a thigh injury in the first drive of Monday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Steelers director of communications Burt Lauten reports. Shortly thereafter, he was seen limping off to the sideline. He later headed into the locker room to get more tests done on his thigh.
Heyward was questionable to return. However, he eventually did so in the first quarter.
Heyward is a stalwart for the Steelers offensive line. Since 2013, he's been a full-time starter for the team. A former Ohio State Buckeye, he's been to two-straight Pro-Bowls for his efforts and earned a first-team All-Pro nod in 2017.
Through three games in 2019, Heyward has 15 combined tackles, two tackles for loss and a pass deflection. As an integral part to their defensive line, Pittsburgh got lucky with their diagnosis that he was able to return to the game. Both the Steelers and Bengals are 0-3, it's a must-win game for each side.
