The Pittsburgh Steelers will have a surprise reinforcement for their Wild Card game. JuJu Smith-Schuster was officially cleared to play in the Steelers' playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

NFL reporter James Palmer tweeted the news Saturday afternoon.

Palmer added that this was as much of a surprise for Steelers players as it was for the public.

Smith-Schuster was expected to be out for the rest of the season after undergoing “season-ending shoulder surgery” in October. The wide receiver suffered a serious shoulder injury in the Steelers' Week 5 game win over the Denver Broncos.

After expecting to be out the rest of the season, Smith-Schuster expressed his emotions after finding out he had a second chance via Twitter Saturday afternoon.

He, like everyone else, was shocked at the speed of his recovery. “I can't believe I get another chance to take the field with this team and play in a playoff game to keep our season alive,” the wide receiver tweeted.

This news comes just shortly after Steelers' breakout running back Najee Harris was activated from the Injured Reserve. Having both offensive weapons back in the mix for the Wild Card game will greatly increase the Steelers' low chance of beating Patrick Mahomes and the dominant Chiefs Sunday night.

If they can pull off the upset, Smith-Schuster and the Steelers will advance in the postseason tournament and take on the Tennessee Titans.
