Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert has made it clear the team hasn't looked or made an offer to any veteran quarterbacks.

Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges were the quarterbacks last year for the Steelers after Ben Roethlisberger went down with an injury. Both had their struggles so there some questions about if the team would look in a different direction to back up Big Ben if he went down with injury again.

In an interview with 93.7 The Fan's Morning Show, Colbert shot down the notion that the team was targeting a veteran quarterback to serve as Roethlisberger's backup for 2020:

There was speculation that the Steelers might go after Jameis Winston, but he has since signed with the New Orleans Saints. The only other big-time veteran free-agent quarterback left is Cam Newton. With Colbert's comments, though, it doesn't appear the team is going to be going after him.

The Steelers also had a chance to select a quarterback during the draft, but the team chose not to. Pittsburgh also has Paxton Lynch and JT Barrett on the roster and evidently the Steelers feel like that is enough.

This is a big chance the Steelers are taking, especially if Roethlisberger goes down with an injury again. If he stays healthy there should be no problems, but if he doesn't, Colbert's quarterback decision-making could be called into question.

For now, though, it appears that the Steelers are confident both in Roethlisberger's ability to bounce back from his 2019 elbow injury and in Rudolph and Hodges, in particular, to be competent backups.
