Chase Claypool put together the best game of his career in Week 5 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, so he'll be relied upon again in Week 6.
According to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, the Steelers will be without Diontae Johnson versus the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Johnson made an early exit in Pittsburgh's Week 5 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles with a back injury. After not being able to practice during the week, the 24-year-old won't be healthy enough to suit up for the team.
Prior to his injury, Johnson hauled in 15 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown for the Steelers. Along with his back injury, Johnson also dealt with a head injury that caused him to be placed in the league's concussion protocol.
Due to Johnson's health issues, Ben Roethlisberger is going to be short one of his pass-catching weapons. However, the star QB will still have Claypool, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and James Washington at his disposal.
Article Continues BelowNot to mention, the Steelers also have James Conner, Eric Ebron, and Vance McDonald in the offense. As Pryor noted, Claypool is expected to see an increased workload for the second consecutive week.
A week ago, Claypool had a stellar performance as the Steelers defeated the Eagles. The rookie second-round pick caught a career-high seven receptions for 110 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown to give Pittsburgh an early 7-0 lead in the game.
Pittsburgh has always shown to have a knack for finding talented wide receivers in the draft. Now, they'll need Chase Claypool to step up once again in the offense with Johnson ruled out for the team's upcoming AFC North matchup.
