San Francisco 49ers fans and Christian McCaffrey fantasy football owners were fearing the worst after the star running back suffered an oblique injury in Week 6. Despite previously issuing a positive injury update, McCaffrey was listed as questionable heading into Monday. On Monday, though, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed that Christian McCaffrey will play in the 49ers' Monday Night Football game versus the Minnesota Vikings.
Christian McCaffrey ready for 49ers-Vikings game
McCaffrey's status is a huge update without question. The 49ers clearly believe that his injury isn't serious. After all, they would not risk his long-term health by rushing him back too quickly if the injury left reason for concern.
With that being said, McCaffrey could be limited during the Week 7 Monday Night Football clash. Oblique injuries feature the potential to linger and San Francisco will likely proceed with caution despite the running back's active status.
Christian McCaffrey is in the midst of another spectacular season. He leads the league in rushing yards with a mark of 553 heading into Monday night. McCaffrey has also recorded seven touchdowns on the ground. He's been productive in the passing attack as well, posting 23 receptions for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns so far.
San Franciso is 5-1 in 2023. Their defense is phenomenal and the offense features plenty of talent. Brock Purdy's continued emergence has been a major storyline as well. However, the 49ers wouldn't be where they are without McCaffrey.
After getting upset by the Cleveland Browns a week ago, Christian McCaffrey and San Francisco will attempt to bounce back on Monday Night Football against the Vikings.
