The Seattle Seahawks are in the midst of an ongoing contract dispute with All-Pro safety Earl Thomas this offseason that has put his long-term future with the franchise up in the air.
Thomas is holding out from training camp in order to force the issue and push the Seahawks to either work out a new lucrative extension or move him in a trade. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, longtime teammate Bobby Wagner understands and supports Thomas' decision to go this route.

You want him to be here, I want him to be here, but at the same time, too, there’s a business side of this thing. Sometimes that takes over what you should be doing. I think you see it a lot right now from the defensive side. You have amazing players that are not getting paid or not getting their money. I think at some point you have to make a stand.”
Thomas clearly desires to get this entire matter sorted out prior to the start of the 2018 season, but Seattle hasn't given any signs of budging. Instead, it has been quite silent on the Seahawks' front, as the team appears to be willing to wait for the matter to sort itself out, believing Thomas will ultimately arrive to avoid losing out on his $10.4 million salary for the 2018 campaign.
Although Thomas previously voiced that he would entertain the possibility of being traded to another team, he has also made it evident that he wants to remain with the franchise long-term despite several of their mainstay defensive stars departing. Thomas still has a strong connection with the organization and hopes to be a part of it for several more seasons beyond 2018.
