The Seattle Seahawks have battled with offensive line injuries all season long. Entering the NFL Playoffs, their front five big men are back to full strength and should be able to take on the Los Angles Rams in playoff action this weekend.
On the daily Locked On Seahawks podcast, hosts Corbin Smith and Rob Rang discussed the implications of the return of the starting offensive linemen for Seattle ahead of the NFL Playoffs.
Smith: Rob, this is really big news. We have talked about this a number of times in recent weeks. Even when they (the Seahawks) have had to shuffle backups in. Cedric Ogbuehi has played well the last three weeks. Jordan Simmons has given them a huge lift starting six games. For Ogbuehi this year, when he was out, Kyle Fuller slid into center and they were able to get by. This group has really held out well given the fact that their starting lineup, the original five, has only five games together, but the stats do not lie. This is a really big deal getting those two veterans in Shell and Iupati back.
Rang: It is a monstrous deal, Corbin. I mean, the Seahawks are 5-0 in the games in which their starting five offensive linemen have all played. And then you talk specifically about some of the individual players, Brandon Shell is a pass protector in my opinion than Cedric Ogbuehi. He is certainly a better run blocker. As much as we have seen Ogbuehi play down the stretch for Seattle, I really think that this guy is going to make a significant improvement.
