There was plenty of optimism surrounding Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson's status for this week's matchup versus the Los Angeles Chargers. Unfortunately, it appears he remains questionable at this point in time.
Carson has been designated with a hip injury throughout the week. Head coach Pete Carroll says he will likely be a game-time decision with a groin injury now, via Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR and PFT:

There is nothing optimistic about Carroll's update on Carson. This refutes Seattle's hope that he would potentially be good to go. As a result, it seems Carroll is already preparing a game plan that does not involve him.
Carson's potential absence would surely be felt by the Seahawks' offense. He has established himself as the team's workhorse back on early downs. he has registered 457 yards and two touchdowns on 103 carries thus far in the 2018 campaign. The workload would undoubtedly be split among the rest of the backfield if he is unable to go.
Carson's injury essentially opens the door for running back Mike Davis to get another crack as the top option. He enjoyed a bit of a breakout performance in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals when he rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. He could be poised for another big outing against a porous Chargers defense.
