The Seattle Seahawks and general manager John Schneider were wheeling and dealing over the weekend and that might be an understatement. With the Seahawks originally heading into the 2019 NFL Draft with the No. 21 overall pick, Schneider ultimately traded his way to picking quite a few times over the course of the annual event.
Thanks to trading away pass rusher Frank Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs before the 2019 NFL Draft, Schneider was able to keep the train rolling right through until Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee.

With the Seahawks initially selecting former TCU Horned Frogs defensive end L.J. Collier with the No. 29 overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Seattle wasted absolutely no time replacing the aforementioned Clark with a soon-to-be rookie. However, Seattle's most notable pick came with the very last selection in the second round as Schneider snagged former Ole Miss Rebels wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, who was graded by some as a first-round talent.
“Big, explosive talent with projectable upside to become a home-run threat as a WR1,” reads Metcalf's 2019 NFL Draft profile on NFL.com. “Teams seek out pass-catchers with rare height, weight and speed dimensions and Metcalf has those for days. While he has the talent to become a full-field threat, Metcalf is still an unpolished gem who was the second-best receiver on his college team. Until his skill-set is more developed, he could begin his career as a hit-or-miss long-ball threat. However, once it clicks, defenses could struggle to find solutions for him.”
It is also worth noting that Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin may have played his last down as an NFL pass catcher, paving the way for Metcalf to hit the ground running in Seattle.
