Seattle Seahawks rookie defensive lineman L.J. Collier has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Collier was carted off of the field after injuring himself in practice on Tuesday, so while this is certainly not great news, it could have been much worse.
The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at TCU, was selected by the Seahawks in the first round (29th pick overall) of the NFL Draft back in April.
He is coming off of a senior campaign in which he registered 42 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, and four passes defended. Collier arrived at TCU in 2015 but played in just one game during his freshman year. He then became a member of the rotation the following season, posting 21 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks.

With the Seahawks trading Frank Clark this offseason, the team is in desperate need of some pass rushing, and Collier was supposed to provide that for the club. However, now, it looks like Collier may be sidelined for an extended period of time.
Seattle won 10 games and made the playoffs as a Wild Card in the NFC this past season. The Seahawks then went on to fall to the Dallas Cowboys.
The Seahawks have made the playoffs six of the last seven years, including back-to-back Super Bowl appearances in 2013-14 and 2014-15, the former of which resulted in a championship.
