The Seattle Seahawks have continued to have an ongoing situation on their hands involving All-Pro safety Earl Thomas involving his contract.

This now appears to have taken another turn with Mike Garafolo of The NFL Network reporting that there is no indication that Thomas will report to the start of training camp later this week.

“Earl Thomas wants to be paid right now. He doesn't want to wait to end of this contract this upcoming season then hit free agency. I don't if he's going to show up for the start of camp. No indications that he is going to show so we could have a holdout on our hands right here. If that is the case, then I don't expect the Seahawks to rush to do a deal to end that holdout. That's what happened with Kam Chancellor a couple of years ago. They said they aren't going to do a deal until he comes back and he eventually came back and did a deal down the line.”

There is a strong desire from Thomas to get a resolution to this situation with either a new extension in place or a trade so that he can earn that contract elsewhere. However, there doesn't look to be any rush from the Seahawks to appease their star safety with that at this point but rather let him return to the team so that things can be smoothened out.

Thomas is in the final year of his four-year, $40 million deal with Seattle and has been quite vocal about his feelings toward the ordeal stating that he wants to remain with the franchise long-term but views the lack of discussion toward a new deal demonstrating that the team doesn't want to go that route. It is still a fluid situation where much could change in the coming months on both sides.

In the meantime, it looks to be that Seahawks are willing to let this one work itself out prior to the start of the 2018 season.
