Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is enjoying what has arguably been the best stretch of his NFL career, and the veteran is being recognized for his extraordinary efforts through seven weeks.

Right now, Wilson has the second-best odds to win the NFL MVP award, coming in behind Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers:

Over his first seven games, Wilson has thrown for 1,945 yards, an NFL-leading 15 touchdowns and just one interception while completing 68.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 114.1.

In addition, Wilson has rushed for 178 yards and three scores, and, most importantly, he has the Seahawks at 5-2 and in prime position to snare a playoff spot in the NFC.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at North Carolina State and Wisconsin, was originally selected by Seattle in the third round (75th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He was immediately named the Seahawks' starting quarterback from the get-go and made the Pro Bowl in his first season. He then proceeded to lead Seattle to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances in his second and third years, winning the championship in the former season.

Overall, Wilson has made earned five Pro Bowl selections, most recently making the trip last year after throwing for 3,448 yards, 35 touchdowns and seven picks while completing 65.6 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 110.9.

The Seahawks have also made the playoffs in all but one of Wilson's first seven seasons, only failing to qualify in 2017.
