Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin got off to hot start with the franchise, winning one Super Bowl and reaching another in his first four seasons. In the seven years since, the Steelers haven't lived up to their championship aspirations, but owner Art Rooney II is still happy with the work Tomlin has done.
Questions about Tomlin's job status especially picked up this year when the Steelers were knocked out in the divisional round by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Former quarterback Terry Bradshaw was upset with the team's decision to fire offensive coordinator Todd Haley, pointing the blame at Tomlin instead. Then, a report came out stating that minority stake owners of the Steelers were urging Rooney to consider canning the head coach in favor of someone new.
On Wednesday, Rooney shut down any possibility that he's thinking of moving on from Tomlin, praising the 45-year-old for everything he's accomplished during his tenure. From Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribute-Review:

OK, well, who are you hiring next? There's another part to that equation that people don't want to get into. I'm very comfortable Mike is our coach and happy that he's our coach, and I think he's one of the best coaches in the NFL.”
Tomlin's 116 wins are the second-most by a head coach in NFL history through their first 11 seasons. Although his teams have struggled in the postseason as of late, Rooney doesn't pin the blame solely on him, especially this most recent loss.
“We played against a good team and turned the ball over twice early that led to scores on their end that we couldn't overcome,” Rooney said. “That is part Mike's problem, but mostly it's the guys on the field who have to make sure it doesn't happen. Some of it was good plays by Jacksonville.”
