One of the big reasons that Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians was hired was to try and get more out of quarterback Jameis Winston. Arians knew coming into the job that it wouldn't happen overnight, but he thinks that his franchise quarterback is ahead at this point of where he expected.

The one thing that Arians has been impressed with is just how consistent that Winston has been every practice.

“Consistency — it’s just solid,” Arians said via Pro Football Talk. “He is seeing the kitchen sink on defense. Some guys let him down on that last interception. That was where the ball needed to go, it was just a bad route.”

Arians said that this started back in offseason training where Winston also showed the type of consistency that he is looking for.

“He’s gradually getting a better understanding of when to get the ball out of his hand,” Arians said. “We’ve got to do a better job of protecting him in some of these drills, so he can read it out.”

Winston has always shown the promise of being one of the better quarterbacks in the league, but he has also really struggled at times, especially with throwing the ball to the other team.

If Arians can get him to limit those turnovers and he can show consistency come Sunday's this fall Arians will be considered a miracle worker and maybe this is a Bucs team that can surprise others around the league. It's still a big if though and it needs to be proven over a season, not just a glimpse here and there.
