The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were reported to have agreed to terms with former New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles to fill in as the team's defensive coordinator heading into the 2019 season. Newly appointed head coach Bruce Arians believes he will indeed be sharing the sidelines with his former defensive coordinator from their days with the Arizona Cardinals.

Sounds like Bowles to Tampa is happening, despite reports of Chicago trying to make a late push.

Arians may be convinced that Bowles will be the Buccaneers' defensive coordinator moving forward, however other reports suggest otherwise as Bowles has also been reportedly in talks to take the same position with the Chicago Bears.
The Bears are light-years ahead of the Buccaneers in terms of defensive potential considering the Bears were the league's most elite defense in 2018 under Vic Fangio. Fangio has recently taken the head coaching job with the Denver Broncos so any defensive coordinator in line to take over for Fangio is likely salivating at the opportunity.
While Bowles is a fantastic defensive minded coach, Tampa Bay will likely require a lot more work and their current players are nowhere near what Chicago possesses. The decision will likely be tough for Bowles because he would likely love to reunite with Arians after his brief hiatus. Arians and Bowles were a dynamic duo back with the Arizona Cardinals and Bowles was later appointed to the Jets head coaching position after his impressive run as Arizona's defensive play caller.
Bowles is in a win-win type of situation, it's solely a matter of which team he prefers to go with at this point.
