Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin is an exciting young player and could have a huge season in 2019. Former teammates Adam Humphries and Desean Jackson are no longer with the team so this opens up a lot of opportunities for Godwin. Everyone seems to be buying into the hype surrounding Godwin except for him.

“It’s cool seeing those types of things,” Godwin said. “But at the same time, everything, preseason, it doesn’t really matter until you put the film on. I’m not really big on all that preseason talk because if we don’t execute, then none of it will matter. I’m more interested in looking at the season afterwards and seeing how I actually did, and seeing if the expectations that I had for myself if I live up to it.”

Godwin caught 59 passes for 842 yards and seven touchdowns in 2018, so it's easy to see why he could be in store for a big season under new head coach Bruce Arians.

Arians has committed to making this quarterback Jameis Winston's offense and Winston had a great connection with Godwin. It's obvious fellow wide receiver Mike Evans is Winston's favorite target, but Evans will see team's best coverage and this could leave Godwin open often.

The Buccaneers receiver is heading into his third season and has shown a good deal of potential, likely why the team let Jackson and Humphries go. If someone like Arians is backing a player, it's a great sign that opposing defenses better take Godwin into account next season and not focus solely on Evans.
