Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson returned to practice on Wednesday after missing the past three games with an injured left thumb, according to Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times.
Earlier this week, Jackson said he was “hopeful” to return to action against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday.
Jackson originally injured his thumb in the Buccaneers' season-opening win over the New Orleans Saints, but continued to play through the injury. However, he aggravated the ailment during his team's Week 12 loss to the New York Giants and has been sidelined ever since.
On the season, Jackson has hauled in 40 receptions for 750 yards and four touchdowns.
The 32-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of California, was originally selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round (49th pick overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.
He had a terrific rookie campaign, catching 62 passes for 912 yards and a couple of scores. Then, the following year, Jackson made the Pro Bowl after snaring 62 balls for 1,156 yards while reaching the end zone nine times.
The Long Beach, Ca. native made back-to-back trips to Honolulu in his second and third NFL seasons, earning one more Pro Bowl selection during his final season with the Eagles in 2013.
Philadelphia proceeded to cut Jackson in March 2014, and he then signed a three-year deal with the Washington Redskins, where he enjoyed three solid seasons before joining the Buccaneers ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.
Tampa Bay currently owns a record of 5-9 and will miss the playoffs yet again. The Bucs have not made the postseason since 2007-08.
