It looks like Kwon Alexander will not be returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next season.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the linebacker texted a group of his Buccaneers teammates a little while ago telling them that he is going to miss them, a clear indication that he will not be re-signing with Tampa Bay.

Alexander is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played just six games due to a torn ACL. During the time he was on the field, Alexander recorded 45 tackles, a sack and a couple of forced fumbles.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the Bucs in the fourth round (124th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 12 contests during his rookie campaign, finishing with 93 tackles, three sacks, a pair of interceptions, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and nine passes defended.

Then, the following year, Alexander racked up 145 tackles, three sacks, a pick, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, seven passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

He proceeded to make his first Pro Bowl in 2017 after registering 97 stops, three interceptions and a forced fumble, but missed four games due to a hamstring injury.

In spite of his health issues, Alexander is considered one of the top defensive players available on the open market, and Garafolo notes that he is expected to land a deal worth in the neighborhood of $12-13 million annually.

The San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets are rumored to be hot on Alexander's trail, so it's entirely possible that he agrees to a deal early in the free agency period.
