The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have elected to place cornerback Carlton Davis III on the injured reserve list due to his quad injury, as noted by the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Davis will now miss Tampa Bay's upcoming three games because of this notable injury. This will at the least make him eligible to return to action by the team's Week 8 divisional showdown with the New Orleans Saints. But, as Rapoport further added, he is more likely to be back on the field in four to six weeks.
The #Bucs placed CB Carlton Davis on Injured Reserve, which knocks him out 3 games at least. The ballpark is 4-6 weeks for his quad injury, I’m told, so expect to see him in November.

Davis left the Buccaneers' Week 4 matchup against the New England Patriots due to an apparent quad injury. He suffered this injury in the third quarter while on special teams covering a punt, although he made no contact with any Patriots player during the play. He was subsequently helped off the field and did not return to the game.
Article Continues BelowThe fourth-year cornerback had already faced a notable injury concern earlier this month; he was ruled as questionable for the matchup against the Patriots due to a minor injury to his abdomen and ribs. While he earned the green light to feature against the Patriots, he still came away from the game with an injury.
For now, the Buccaneers will call upon cornerbacks such as new signing Richard Sherman to help replace Davis' on-field production in the meantime. Sherman made his season debut with Tampa Bay in Week 4, although he had a difficult time in containing the Patriots' receiving threats, as he posted a 113.9 passer rating allowed while in coverage as the nearest defender.
Tampa Bay will look to bounce back in Week 5 with the key home matchup against the Miami Dolphins.
