Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout Travis Jonsen was arrested for a DUI on Monday morning and not long after, GM Jason Licht released a statement on the matter. Just over 24 hours later and Jonsen has now been released by the organization.
Todd Bowles says Bucs receiver Travis Jonsen is “no longer with the team” following his arrest on a DUI charge Monday morning.

Jonsen signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2020 out of Montana State and was strictly on the Tampa Bay practice roster for the last two seasons. Since Jonsen essentially had no role with the franchise already, they were quick to cut ties.
The NFL takes these types of situations very seriously, but with star players, there is usually more leniency. however, when it comes to a guy who hasn't even taken a snap in the league, the decision is easy.
The Buccaneers won't be affected at all by this move and with an already stacked receiver group, it was always going to be tough for Jonsen to break in and actually find any playing time. He'll likely face a suspension from the NFL for violating the substance abuse policy but there is a very good chance he doesn't sign with any other organization as well.
Unfortunate for Travis Jonsen. If only he made the smart decision and didn't get behind the wheel.
