From the New England Patriots to retirement to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, veteran NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski is officially back in the mix. Currently in the process of being traded from the heralded Patriots to the revamped Buccaneers en route to once again teaming up with future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady, “Gronk” apparently still has some unfinished business outside of the professional football landscape.
Even though he is heading back to the gridiron, Gronkowski remains the reining WWE 24/7 Champion while the infamous professional wrestling entity made a point to comment on the situation — and wasted absolutely no time in doing so, at that.
Congratulations to @RobGronkowski, the current WWE 24/7 Champion, on his return to football.
Per the rules of the 24/7 Title, Gronk must defend his championship at all times in any location. He could be celebrating a touchdown pass from @TomBrady… anytime, anywhere.

Of course, “Gronk” originally became the WWE 24/7 Champion at WrestleMania 36 upon stealing the title from one of his good friends, Mojo Rawley. It is also worth noting that the 24/7 is a special one as it can be defended “anytime, anywhere,” which is something that the WWE made sure to point out upon wishing Gronkowski well in his latest endeavor.
Article Continues BelowPreviously spending his entire NFL playing career as a member of the Patriots, Gronkowski will now head to Tampa Bay to join the Buccaneers alongside a future seventh-round NFL Draft pick. In exchange, the Buccaneers will be sending a future fourth-round NFL Draft pick to the Patriots.
It will surely be interesting to see how “Gronk” upholds his WWE obligations during this chaotic time. It is also interesting to think about whether or not the WWE knew about Gronkowski's intention of returning to the NFL back at WrestleMania 36.
