Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson wants to move on from the team this offseason, according to Josina Anderson of ESPN.

Jackson is under contract for one more year, and the Buccaneers would clear $10 million in cap space by releasing him.

Jackson’s future in Tampa Bay has been in serious doubt since a report came out that he wanted to be dealt before the trade deadline. However, the Buccaneers were unable to get a deal done.

According to Anderson, Jackson’s relationship with the team began to “fester” after an exchange with head coach Dirk Koetter in regard to Jackson not practicing before Week 12 against the 49ers due of a thumb injury.

Jackson played in that game but missed the next three weeks before returning against the Cowboys last Sunday. He didn’t practice on Wednesday because of an Achilles issue.

After a strong start to the season where he had 100-plus yards in three of the first four games, Jackson has not done so well since Jameis Winston returned as the Buccaneers’ starting quarterback.

Jackson hasn’t even topped 80 yards in any of his last eight games and has just one touchdown. He has 41 catches for 774 yards and four touchdowns overall this season, and his 18.9 yards per catch is tops in the NFL.

At 32 years of age, Jackson has shown that he still possesses the speed and overall ability to be a difference-maker for a playoff-caliber team. And if gets his way, he will be able to join one this offseason once his time in Tampa comes to an end.
