The Tampa Bay Buccaneers put together a dominant showing against the Green Bay Packers. After giving up 109 yards on 11 penalties in a losing effort against the Chicago Bears in Week 5, Tom Brady was furiously screaming on the sidelines, and his team must have listened.
On the daily Locked On Bucs Podcast, host James Yarcho recaps Tampa Bay's flawless performance in which they committed zero penalties and explains why it was the team's best win in over a decade:
Article Continues BelowJames Yarcho: At no point in my lifetime have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ever gone through an entire game without getting a penalty. I don't know what was said by the coaches. If I had to guess, I would say judging from his body language, how we saw him jumping all over players on the sideline, a big, big reason that the Buccaneers went this entire game without committing these stupid mistakes and these stupid penalties that always end up shooting themselves in the foot was Tom Brady. He was furious against Chicago, especially if you go back to that drive where they had 40 yards of penalties on one drive. He's jumping all over Ryan Jensen, he's screaming at his offensive lineman. This had to be the focus of this football team.
Sure, a lot of it came from the coaches. A lot of it had to be some, you know, self-scouting, some soul searching by these players saying we blew a game that we may need at the end of this year for seeding purposes or to even get into the postseason because we couldn't get out of our own way and we can't let it happen again. Sure enough, against one of the best teams in the NFL, they didn't let it happen and they utilized that perfect play in order to absolutely dominate the Green Bay Packers from top to bottom again. It was a slow first quarter. It was an ugly first quarter. After that, it was the best game I have seen the Buccaneers play in a decade. I don't know if that's recency bias, but I would challenge someone to point out a game within the last 10 years that the Buccaneers have played that was a more complete team victory than this one that they just had in Week 6.
