Since his arrival to the Tennessee Titans via free agency five years ago, Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker has emerged as one of the league's most productive players at his position.
With his continued high-level all-around play, this has pushed Walker to voice that he believes that he is the best tight end in the league at this moment in time, according to Jason Wolf of The Tennessean.
“Honestly, I feel like I’m the best tight end in the league in all phases,” Walker said this week. “Blocking, run blocking, catching the ball, breaking tackles, stuff like that. At the end of the day, if you don’t feel like that you shouldn’t be in the league.”
The 33-year-old has certainly backed up that notion on the field behind his stellar play that has seen him emerge as one of the league's most productive tight ends with his career truly taking off to greater heights in Tennessee.
Article Continues BelowIn his first five years with the Titans, he has notched at least 60 catches in each campaign while topping 800 receiving yards in the last four seasons, which are the most for a tight end in franchise history. He has also led his position in reception (356) over that span.
Walker has developed into a complete talent with his ability to impact the game with his blocking that has helped provide more stability up front in either pass protection or in a run situation. There aren't many highly productive tight ends that can perform at a high level in terms of more than just the pass-receiving stats.
He is heading into the backend of his career in his 13th season. It means this is especially the time he will be tested more physically, but appears to be more than motivated to continue to perform at an elite level in the 2018 campaign and possibly beyond that.
