Even though Derrick Henry is uncertain about his future with the Tennessee Titans, he is lobbying for the team to retain Ryan Tannehill. While appearing on Will Compton and Taylor Lewan's podcast, Henry made a case for Tennessee to keep Tannehill.
[Brady] still can play,” Henry said, on Will Compton and Taylor Lewan’s Bussin’ With The Boys podcast. “Obviously, age doesn’t matter for him, he’s still playing at a high level, but my question would be: Why ain’t Ryan good enough, you know? . . . Speaking for everyone on the offense, we fed off of him . . . Ryan Tannehill is our quarterback and went to the AFC Championship, why would we not want Ryan back?”
Of course, Henry is referring to Tom Brady when he mentions Brady in the podcast. Ahead of free agency, the Titans are considered a dark-horse team that could pursue Brady. Despite noting that Brady can still play at a high-level, Henry believes Tannehill should be starting for Tennessee in 2020.
Prior to the 2019 season, the Titans acquired Tannehill in a trade with the Miami Dolphins. The former first-round pick was added with the expectation that he would be the backup to Marcus Mariota.

In his 10 starts in the regular season, Tannehill completed 69.6 percent of his attempts for 2,598 yards, 22 touchdowns, and five interceptions. As a result, the veteran signal-caller has likely earned himself a deserved pay-raise next season.
With that being said, it is unclear if the Titans want to commit to Tannehill for the foreseeable future. Regardless of Tennessee's opinion, Henry believes it's best for the franchise to re-sign Tannehill. Given what happened in this past postseason, it is hard to think Henry is off base in any possible way.
