The Tennessee Titans are set to host the San Francisco 49ers Thursday night to kick off Week 16 of the NFL season. However, they will be without two key components of their offensive line.

According to Titans writer John Glennon, Taylor Lewan and Rodger Saffold will not be available to play on Thursday. Glennon tweeted the news Wednesday afternoon.

Lewan, Titans' left tackle, will miss the game due to a back injury. He is expected to return for Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins. Left guard Saffold was placed on the Titans' COVID-19 list on Wednesday, forcing him to miss Thursday against San Francisco. He also missed Week 15 against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 14. Along with being on the COVID-19 list, Saffold continues to deal with that injury.

This is a huge loss for the Titans, but quarterback Ryan Tannehill especially. The longtime NFL quarterback relies heavily on the strength of his offensive line in order to make successful play calls and passes. It will be interesting to see how the Titans shift their offensive line with two huge holes in the left side.

The Titans are currently at the top of the AFC South with a winning record of 9-5. They look to increase their lead in the division with a win on Thursday, despite challenges in their way due to injuries and COVID-19.
