The NFL offseason filled with twists and turns continued Wednesday, as the Washington Commanders traded with the Indianapolis Colts for quarterback Carson Wentz. The Commanders had been rumored for quite some time to be trying to make a splash in the quarterback market, and now they have landed their guy. Washington did this likely with the assumption that it increased their chances of winning a Super Bowl. Well, no one told Las Vegas that.

Prior to trading for Wentz, the Commanders were 50-to-1 to win Super Bowl LVII. After trading for Wentz, their odds are exactly the same.

That might knock a little wind out of Commanders' fans sails who were under the impression they upgraded at quarterback earlier Wednesday.

Last season, Washington had Taylor Heinicke under center. Heinicke was serviceable last year, completing 65 percent of his passes. He threw 20 touchdowns to 15 interceptions. Quietly, Heinicke also ran for 313 yards and a score on the ground.

Wentz is coming off of his best seasons as a pro. He tied a career-low in interceptions with only seven, while throwing for 27 touchdown passes. With a couple weeks left in the regular season, there wasn't much talk at all about Wentz not returning to Indianapolis. However, played terribly the final two games, both losses against the Raiders and the Jacksonville Jaguars. That kept the team from the playoffs and ultimately was the straw that broke the camel's back.
