The Washington Football Team and Miami Dolphins have come to an agreement on a trade that will send guard Ereck Flowers back to the nation's capital, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapaport. The deal also involves a swap of late-round picks.
This will be Flowers' second go-round in Washington. The 27-year-old played there in 2019 on a one-year deal and used that season to earn himself a three-year, $30 million contract with the Dolphins.

Meanwhile, Washington gets a player who can compete for a starting gig on the offensive line:

Flowers has already reacted to the move back to his former team:

Flowers started his career with the New York Giants after getting picked ninth overall out of Miami in the 2015 NFL Draft. He played as a left tackle with the Giants and spent three-plus seasons there before he was released.
The offensive lineman then signed on with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the middle of the 2018 season and started at left tackle the rest of the way. That helped get him a one-year, $4 million deal with Washington, where he transitioned to guard. He started all 16 games there in 2019.
Washington is coming off a 7-9 season, though that earned them the top spot in the putrid NFC East. They then lost to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round, with Taylor Heinicke delivering an admirable performance. Ryan Fitzpatrick is now slated to start at quarterback in 2021.
The Dolphins, Fitzpatrick's team last season, went 10-6 in 2020 but just missed the playoffs. Miami is hoping Tua Tagovailoa will take a big step forward in 2021.
