Washington Football Team safety Deshazor Everett was the driver in a car crash that killed a passenger on Thursday night, according to the Loudon County Sheriff's Office.

Here are details from the initial report:

The driver of a 2010 Nissan GT-R was traveling north on Gum Spring Road near Ticonderoga Road when around 9:15 p.m. the vehicle left the right side of the roadway, struck several trees, and rolled over.

The passenger, Olivia S. Peters, 29, of Las Vegas, Nevada was taken to StoneSprings Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Everett was taken to the hospital with “serious but non-life-threatening injuries.” It's still unclear what caused the crash, and an investigation is ongoing.

The 29-year-old Everett has spent basically his entire career with Washington after going undrafted out of Texas A&M. He came into the NFL in 2015 and initially signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he was waived before the season. The safety then joined Washington shortly afterward.

Everett has mostly been a reserve player in his career, though there have been several seasons in which he wound up getting multiple starts. He started eight games out of 14 in 2017 and six games out of 11 in 2020. The safety has appeared in 14 games this season, with 10 total tackles to his name.
