The Washington Football Team wasted a 10-0 first quarter lead against the Philadelphia Eagles, losing 27-17 in a game they really needed to win. However, Jonathan Allen understands they have no one to blame but themselves.

Allen, unarguably Washington's best defender, also acknowledged that he and the defense failed to step up when it mattered most. While it would have been easy to blame their lack of manpower due to the absence of a slew of players–including their top quarterback options–the veteran tackle didn't make any excuses.

Simply put, they were outmatched in all levels and they didn't respond the way they should have.

“I don't think we did anything well today when you give up however many yards we did today on the ground,” Allen said, per NBC Washington. “We got our a– kicked. They were just the better team today.”

Jonathan Allen also emphasized that it's their job to handle adversity, which they clearly failed to do. They allowed Jalen Hurts get his way on the offense, and the Eagles QB took advantage of it with two rushing touchdowns and one passing TD.

“In the NFL, you get paid to handle adversity. It is what it is,” Allen added. “We can [expletive] and moan about COVID, nobody cares. It really doesn't matter. If we do our job, we win the game today. We didn't do our job and we got embarrassed.”

The Washington Football team dropped to 6-8 on the season for third in the NFC East, while the Eagles overtook them in the standings at 7-7. Now, they are facing a tough road as they look to stay in contention for the playoffs

Hopefully, though, Allen and the rest of the Washington franchise can handle things better when they face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16.
