Chelsea has slapped a £60 million ($80 million) price tag on N’Golo Kante as Real Madrid inquired about acquiring the talented midfielder, according to Football Insider.

Kante is a talisman for Chelsea, but The Blues need to sell players in order to afford the long shopping list that boss Frank Lampard has in mind for his squad. After securing moves for defender Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva recently and in the eves of locking up a deal with Bayer Leverkusen talent Kai Havertz, Lampard has been told he needs to sell before he can make moves for others like Declan Rice of West Ham.

Chelsea is looking to net Rice on a £70 million ($93 million) transfer along with the inclusion of a player. The funds from a N'Golo Kante sale would go directly toward the Rice deal, as Lampard looks to transform The Blues into a very different squad.

Real Madrid is interested in bolstering its midfield, but they will have to pay a hefty price to get the 29-year-old central man to add him to their side.

N'Golo Kante has made a total of 170 appearances for Chelsea and has won both the Premier League and the FA Cup during his time in London. He has three years left on the five-year contract he initially signed in 2018.

The French midfielder joined from Leicester City back in 2016, but has suffered an injury-plagued 2019-20 season with ankle and hamstring injuries sidelining him for large parts of the campaign.
