The Colorado Avalanche will head up to the Pacific North West to take on the newcomers of the league, the Seattle Kraken. The Avalanche are now tied in the league with the most points and have clinched the entire Western Conference while the Kraken could not be any more of the opposite, sitting dead last in the Pacific Division and third to last in the league. With that said, it’s time to continue our NHL odds series with an Avalanche-Kraken prediction and pick.

Why The Avalanche Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Colorado Avalanche are on an absolute tear not just right now, but throughout the entire season. They're now tied for the most points in the league and are looking to take home that President's Trophy. The Avs have gone 9-1-0 in their last 10 and don't have any plans on stopping. They have some key players missing from the lineup in Gabriel Landeskog and Nazem Kadri, but it hasn't slowed them down at all as they continue to steamroll through teams. With the Avs being just heavy favorites, we should see backup goaltender Pavel Francouz get the start tonight. He's averaging a .919 save percentage and allowing 2.49 goals against per game. He'll look to sit in the crease and watch the offense in front of him do the work.

Why The Kraken Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Seattle Kraken are playing for nothing but pride at this point in the season, although they are entering this game on a two-game winning streak, both being at home. The Kraken have played the Avs twice this season and are shockingly 0-2 while being outscored 11-6. They're still a new team and looking to rebuild into the next seasons, starting out young and hoping to develop throughout the tenure of the franchise.

Yes, they're bad this season, but they are still exciting to watch grow and become better over time. In between the pipes for the Kraken tonight will likely be former Avalanche goaltender, Philipp Grubauer as he's looking for revenge against his former team. Unfortunately, he's not playing as well with the Kraken as he did with the Avs as he is repping a .891 save percentage and allowing 3.11 goals against per game. With revenge on the mind, he could easily get the motivation to pull off a win tonight.

Final Avalanche-Kraken Prediction & Pick

The best team in the league is going up against one of the worst teams in the league, and the odds are honestly a little disrespectful towards the Avs. Sure, they have a tendency to play down to their opponents, but they've been listed at -2.5 against better teams before, so I think -1.5 is an absolute steal. I don't love the odds for it as it's still in minus money, but it's almost free money at that point. Give me the Avalanche to win by two or more goals.

Final Avalanche-Kraken Prediction and Pick: Avalanche -1.5 (-126)
