The Vegas Golden Knights will head into Ohio for the first time this season to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight. This will be the second time these teams meet as the first matchup in November was in Vegas where the Knights ended up winning 3-2. The Golden Knights head into this game on a three-game losing streak and are currently sitting in the second wild-card position for playoffs after getting jumped by the Oilers. The Blue Jackets enter this game after a shootout win on Friday to snap a four-game losing streak but have actually been a sneaky good team lately even though they won’t be making the playoffs this year. With that, it’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Golden Knights-Blue Jackets prediction and pick.

Why The Golden Knights Can Cover The Spread/Win
The Vegas Golden Knights are on a little bit of a skid right now as they look to snap their three-game losing streak tonight on the road. They’ve lost their top three seeding for the playoffs and are hungry for a win here tonight. They’ve battled through a number of injuries this season and it shows, considering they simply don’t look or feel like the Knights typically have since they’ve entered the league; especially on offense. The Knights were held to just two goals or less in nine of their last 13 matchups, with just four wins over that span.
Speaking of injuries, starting goaltender Robin Lehner is questionable for tonight’s game, so it’s very likely that we could see backup Laurent Brossoit get the starting nod tonight. On the season so far, he’s allowing 2.78 goals against per game with a .899 save percentage. He’ll have to come out guns blazing if he wants to help his team come away with a victory tonight on the road.
Why The Blue Jackets Can Cover The Spread/Win
The Columbus Blue Jackets have given up 20 goals on a recent four-game losing streak where their defense clearly struggled. With a struggling offense in the Golden Knights tonight, maybe this is exactly what the Jackets need to bounce back. The issue with the Blue Jackets is that they are sneaky at finding the back of the net, but still give up more than they can counter back with. They love high-scoring games but also love keeping them close too.
Starting between the pipes tonight for the Blue Jackets is more than likely going to be starter Elvis Merzlikins, as he’s having a well below average year with a .903 save percentage and allowing 3.42 goals against per game. He will have to step it up if he wants to grab a W at home tonight.
Final Golden Knights-Blue Jackets Prediction & Pick
For some reason, the Blue Jackets love to keep games close, always coming down to the wire. After their shootout win on Friday, now six of the last seven games for the Jackets have been one-goal margins. That’s really all the information I need to make this pick: Columbus +1.5 (-172) at home. It’s not great odds, but it’s still better than the Knights Moneyline which is listed at -174. Columbus will have no problem keeping it within a tight margin tonight as they’ll look to cover, or flat out win, that would work too.
Final Golden Knights-Blue Jackets Prediction and Pick: Columbus +1.5 (-172)
