The Minnesota Wild will head down to Missouri to take on the St. Louis Blues in today's central division rivalry matchup. Both of these teams are playing spectacular hockey lately, the Wild are 7-1-2 in their last 10 while the Blues are 9-0-1 in their last 10. Both of these teams are also tied for second in the division with 98 points and are just about a sure thing from making the playoffs. Who will come away with a win and hopefully home-ice advantage? We'll soon find out, but first, it’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Wild-Blues prediction and pick.

Why The Wild Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Minnesota Wild have been on a tear lately, going 7-2-1 over their last 10 games, and have really stepped up their play overall since their mid-season skid. While the Wild have a lot of talent dispersed throughout the roster, they don't have those “big name” kind of players; the superstars, if you will. Regardless, they're still getting the wins that they need and keeping the momentum up going into the playoffs. The shining spot for the Wild is their goaltending through Cam Talbot and Marc-Andre Fleury. They have more of a 1A and 1B type of game split, and it works out very well.

With that said, it's tough to determine who will get the starting nod for today's game, but on the season, Talbot is allowing 2.77 goals against per game with a .912 save percentage while Fleury is allowing 2.88 goals against per game with a .910 save percentage. Whoever gets the start will have their hands full with the Blues today.

Why The Blues Can Cover The Spread/Win

The St. Louis Blues have been on a roll as of late, going on a 9-0-1 tear through their last 10 matchups, and now they are back on home ice against a very possible playoff matchup. The biggest problem for the Blues this season has been their defensive play, but with Torey Krug back in the lineup, they seem to have solved that problem, at least over the past couple of games. A lot of their defensive success has come from goaltender Ville Husso, who has been tremendous this season with a .925 save percentage and allowing 2.37 goals against per game. He'll get the start here tonight and more than likely get the start for game one in the playoffs.

Final Wild-Blues Prediction & Pick

This is a really difficult game to pick as both of these teams have been incredible lately and are more than likely going to see each other in the playoffs. The Wild have one game in hand over the Blues, but they both have 98 points, nine points ahead of the Predators. I think the series between these two teams will quietly go under the radar through a game seven, they just have that kind of energy around them. As for this sneak peek today though, I'm going to go with the Blues on home ice. They have the momentum flowing through their veins right now and I think being back in their own barn will spark another fire. Give me the Blues' Moneyline.
