The St. Louis Blues will look to win another game on the road as the Minnesota Wild will defend home ice tonight in game two of this series. The Blues won game one on Monday with a 4-0 shutout victory. Despite losing, the Wild actually outshot the Blues by a total of 37-31, which proves that these teams can certainly hang with each other. It’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Blues-Wild prediction and pick.

Why The Blues Can Cover The Spread/Win

During the regular season, the St. Louis Blues had one of the best special teams units in the league and it showed in game one as they converted on two of their six chances on the powerplay. It would be a crime to not mention David Perron getting not only a hat-trick but four total points, meaning he had a part in every single goal for the Blues in game one. He certainly won't keep up those impressive numbers throughout the series, but he's definitely a veteran threat who has been there before. Ville Husso posted a 37-save shutout as he'll likely get another start between the pipes for the Blues tonight.

Why The Wild Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Minnesota Wild need to find ways to stay out of the penalty box more often. They allowed the Blues to have six powerplay opportunities and they capitalized on two of them. Even though the Wild couldn't find the back of the net in game one, they still outshot the Blues, which is great news for Wild fans. They're still producing that offensive structure that they know but just caught an unlucky day. Now they have to battle against the momentum tonight as Cam Talbot will look to get the starting nod in net tonight. Throughout the regular season, Talbot was 32-12-4 with a .911 save percentage and allowing 2.76 goals against per game. Hopefully the forwards in front of him can help secure a win for the Wild tonight.

Final Blues-Wild Prediction & Pick

Even though the Wild outshot the Blues in game one, the score still would've been something closer to 4-2. The Wild need to stay out of the penalty box and not allow the Blues to have those scoring chances. Both teams looked great, but I actually had an upset alert for this series, picking the Blues to win in seven games. With that said, they need to lose at some point, but until then, I'm going to continue to ride the value in the underdog since they'll likely be in plus money all series long. If the odds flip in favor of the Blues in the next couple games, I may reconsider the strategy. Until then, give me the Blues in plus money to keep the pressure on and go up 2-0 on the wild before bringing it back home.
