The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics are just around the corner and Nike has been a main component of outfitting the athletes who will represent the United States at the games. Every four years, Nike always does something special to coincide with the Olympics, whether that be bringing back retro models or releasing something totally out-of-the-box, like their upcoming breakdancing shoes. Coming in August, Nike will bring back one of the most iconic shoes from a United States' gold medal performance.

The United States won gold in basketball during the 1996 summer games from Atlanta. It was another dominant performance from the follow-up to the 1992 ‘Dream Team,” highlighted by players like Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. This time around, the team was anchored by Charles Barkley and none other than Scottie Pippen, who debuted some of the most iconic Olympic sneakers we've ever seen.

Throughout his title runs with the Chicago Bulls, Scottie Pippen was signed to Nike and received several signature models he favored, one of which included the Nike Air More Uptempo. The striking design of the shoe screams 90's-era basketball and Pippen looked great rocking these while repping the USA.

The Nike Air More Uptempo features and unmistakable design that hasn't been replicated by many sneakers since. The shoes are heavy-duty and feature premium leather throughout the uppers. The panels are shaped to form the word “AIR” across both the medial and outer parts of the sneaker. The white leather wraps around through the heel and the lettering extends through the midsole.

White leather also cover the toebox, which features a stitched Nike Swoosh along the top. The should feature navy mesh panelling and elastic straps across the tongue for maximum lockdown support. The shoes also feature a full-length air unit throughout the sole for comfort all game.

Finer details include the jeweled Nike Swoosh along the heel, along with hits of Varsity Red on select Nike logos throughout. The shoes also feature Scottie Pippen's number “8” which he wore throughout the games. The shoes were released previously in 1996, 2012, and once again in 2016, making these a fairly rare release.

The Nike Air More Uptempo ‘Olympic' is slated to drop on August 11, 2024 for a retail tag of $170. The shoes will drop on Nike SNKRS app and select Nike retailers. They'll also come in full family sizing with price adjustments to account for sizing. Don't miss you chance to grab these just in time for the Olympic Games to start.
