The gunman in the fatal shooting of popular Compton rapper Nipsey Hussle was convicted of first-degree murder on Wednesday by a Los Angeles jury. Eric Holder, 32, was found guilty of first-degree murder in connection to the killing of the famous rapper in March of 2019, per James Queally.

Holder was also facing two counts of attempted first-degree murder, stemming from two bystanders who were hit by gunfire in the incident. Those charges, however, were reduced to two counts of voluntary manslaughter, of which the jury found him guilty.

Nipsey Hussle was shot dead in South Los Angeles on March 31, 2019 outside of his clothing store, Marathon Clothing Store. He was just 33 years old at the time of his death. Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney John McKinney said during the trial that the incident stemmed from allegations that Holder was “a snitch.” Holder and Hussle reportedly had a “cool” conversation at Marathon Closing Store earlier on March 31, after which Holder later returned to the store and opened fire at the rapper, shooting him at least 10 times and even kicking him in the head.

Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, was a beloved rapper in Los Angeles. He was a Grammy winner and owned a record label called All Money In. As many as 20,000 fans showed up in support of Nipsey Hussle at the Staples Center for his public memorial in April of 2019. The rapper was dedicated to building up his community and was known for his commitment to community development and his stance against gun violence.
