No More Heroes 3 is the third installment in the action-adventure series. It releases this week, on Friday, August 27, 2021, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
No More Heroes 3 Release Date: August 27, 2021
No More Heroes 3 was first announced at E3 2019 during that year’s E3 Nintendo Direct. Grasshopper Manufacture, the game’s developers, built it on the Unreal Engine 4. This is the same engine that powered the previous title, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes.
Storywise, No More Heroes 3 is set nine years after the events of No More Heroes 2. It features protagonist Travis Touchdown back for another adventure. This time, he will face off against the Galactic Superhero Corps, a legion of super-powered aliens from outer space. Other major characters in the game will be Sylvia Christel, Shinobu Jacobs, Bad Girl, and Badman. Dr. Juvenile, Jeane, and Henry Cooldown will also be making their appearance.
On the gameplay side, No More Heroes 3 plays like a third-person hack-and-slash action-adventure. Travis’ signature beam katana will be making a return as well. Successful attacks will fill up a “Tension Gauge” which enemies also deplete as players take damage. This rewards players who can consistently dole out uncontested damage.
This third installment in the series will also mark a return to the open-world format. This brings it back to its roots in the first game. However, this time the open world will be split into five unique islands. Of course, the staple city of “Santa Destroy” will make its mark once again. To augment this open-world experience, Travis will now have a modified motorcycle to speed up the exploration. Once again, the No More Heroes 3 Release Date is on August 27, 2021, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
No More Heroes 3 PlayStation, Xbox Release Date: October 11, 2022
News arrived back in April that No More Heroes 3 was headed to other platforms, effectively ending the game’s exclusivity on the Nintendo Switch. The game on other platforms will release first in Japan on October 4, 2022. It will then arrive in the US on October 11, 2022, then finally in the EU on October 14, 2022. The next-gen console versions of No More Heroes 3 will feature enhanced graphics, and will run at 4K resolution and 60 FPS.
On top of the new features for the next-gen consoles version, XSEED also says that the game will have a full Japanese dub for the first time coinciding with the release of the next-gen ports. The Nintendo Switch version will also receive the full Japanese dub as a free update.
