Nuggets assistant Calvin Booth says sky is the limit for Jamal Murray’s ‘ceiling’

Jamal is a guy we’ve drafted and seen grow every day…Who knows what Jamal’s ceiling is yet? I don’t think he’s close to it yet. I think depending on how things go, he can be pretty good. You hate to put labels on those things but I think the sky is the limit [for him].

Murray, 22, signed a five-year extension with the Nuggets during the offseason—a contract worth $170 million. So, the franchise is heavily invested in hitching their future to the career trajectory of the Canadian guard.

The Nuggets selected Murray with the seventh overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-4 point guard spent his lone collegiate season at the University of Kentucky head Coach John Calipari. After a brief point-guard battle with Emmanuel Mudiay, Murray won over the starting position and saw his statistics blossom from year one to two, and two to three.

Murray will enter his fourth year in the league in the fall and comes off helping All-Star center Nikola Jokic lead the Denver Nuggets to a two seed in the Western Conference last year. An excellent 3-point shooter, Murray has been responsible for making over 400 triples in three seasons.

The Nuggets kept relatively quiet during the summer, attempting to solidify their burgeoning core with little roster turnover in a bid to advance to the conference finals and beyond next year.

Murray averaged 18.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game last season, shooting 43.7% from the floor, 36.7% from long-range, and 84.8% from the free throw line.
