When the 2021-22 season started, many expected Jamal Murray to miss a huge chunk of the campaign as he recovers from his ACL tear. However, he ended up missing the whole campaign.

Now opening up about his rehab from his significant injury, Murray admitted that his failed comeback bid was a mixture of mental and physical readiness. While he made significant steps in his recover from injury, he's just not mentally there yet to be comfortable playing.

“I have to feel good to play…. I don't know how else I can say it,” the Nuggets star said, per Mike Singer of Denver Post.

Jamal Murray further highlighted that he's “obviously” not close to playing at all this season despite being physically cleared to progress earlier in April. With that said, he aims to work out the kinks of his recovery this offseason to get to that level where is mentally ready to get into action.

Earlier, Murray also discussed his up-and-down rehab process, which is a huge reason for his continued absence. While he wanted to play alongside Nikola Jokic and his Nuggets teammates, his body just couldn't have that consistent healthy stretch.

“I have some really great days where there's no soreness and I feel like I can go. Then you have the days right after that where I'm just not there yet. Those days are really tough… Those slow days, it's tough to see the future after that,” Murray shared.

It remains to be seen how Murray will progress this offseason, though hopes are high he'd be ready come the 2022-23 campaign.
