On Tuesday, the Denver Nuggets lost out to a surging Los Angeles Lakers side, 105-96. Superstar big man Nikola Jokic had himself another forgettable evening, posting just 13 points on a miserable 4-of-12 shooting, along with five rebounds, eight assists, three steals, and five turnovers in 34 minutes of play. After the defeat, the 7-foot center admitted that he is currently going through a bad spell.

“Right now, I’m struggling,” Jokic said, via Mike Singer of The Denver Post. “The coach is a smart guy. He’s not gonna give the guy the ball who’s not making the shot.”

Looking at his previous outings, Tuesday night was actually quite an improvement. Over the previous three games, Jokic has averaged 7.7 points on 39.3 percent from the field, along with 2.7 turnovers per contest. Needless to say, the 24-year-old is currently stuck in what others may refer to as a shooting slump.

Jokic then went on to say that while he acknowledged his struggles, he believes that he can still help his team in other areas.

“I never thought I’m struggling, but I’m struggling right now,” Jokic said. “I cannot make shots. It is what it is. Even when I’m not making shots, I think I can affect the game in some other ways.”

That's all well and good, but Jokic has to remember that he is, after all, this team's cornerstone superstar. He is indeed a very formidable rebounder and playmaker, and it's great that these are still in full display despite his current struggles, but it is without question that the Nuggets need more offensive production from their main man if they want to establish themselves as legitimate threats to the title this season.
