The Denver Nuggets turned a lot of heads last season by successfully securing the second-best record in the Western Conference. A huge reason behind that is the emergence of Nikola Jokic, who has cemented his status as one of the best players in the NBA.

Jokic averaged 20.1 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists in 2018-19. The Nuggets finished with a 52-28 record and they have made their way to the second round of the playoffs, where they lost to the Portland Trail Blazers in a series that went to full seven games.

For a young team like the Nuggets, this is still considered a step in the right direction, and they will look to go deeper in the playoffs this season.

But Jokic doesn't want to get all of the credit for the Nuggets' recent success. He wants everyone on the team to be recognized because they have all helped in bringing the team where it is now, per Harrison Wind.

“I think the media and guys outside of basketball put me in front of the team. Denver Nuggets is team basketball. There are no individuals. We are winning and losing as a team. It’s not me or anybody in front of the team.”

He made a good point there, as the Nuggets indeed have a lot of great players, including Jamaal Murray, Will Barton, and Paul Millsap. And while Jokic is the biggest reason why they are one of the favorites to win it all this season, the rest of the team will play key roles in determining if the team will hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy next year or not.

For Jokic, it's all about the team, not him.
